Carnegie Express will miss the Caulfield Cup. Trainer
David Payne advised this morning that the Caulfield/Melbourne Cup preparation
for Carnegie Express has been badly interrupted.
"His feet were cut back too short by the farrier and he has now missed two days work. "It's very painful for him and so we cannot do anything but wait for them to grow again. "He will miss the Caulfield Cup for sure, there's no way he'll be ready for that. If he shows me he is 100% then I'll run him in the Geelong Cup (2400m) on October 23 as his lead up race for the Melbourne, but he will have to be spot on for me to do that."
