National Currency ran second in the Hong Kong Sprint on Sunday. The colt ran a gallant race but was unfortunate to run into unbeaten sensation, Silent Witness. Silent Witness won comfortably by a length, with National Currency holding second from Cape of Good Hope and Firebolt.

Leading for much of the race, the Azzie trained colt was run out of it in the final stages by Silent Witness. The latter is unbeaten in eight starts for trainer Tony Cruz and former champion SA jockey, Felix Coetzee.

Silent Witness is a son of Conquistador Cielo horse, El Moxie out of Bureaucracy mare Jade Tiara. El Moxie won six minor races in the U.S. and stands at Emirates Park Stud in Australia. He is from the family of Northern Dancer and has also sired the Grade one winners Winestock, Alfa and El Mirada.

The other races included a game win by Peintre Celebre filly, Vallee Enchantee in the Vase, an impressive perfomance by Hong Kong runner Lucky Owners in the Mile and a tour de force by the soon to be retired Falbrav in the Cup.
