The MAD Syndicate's Victory Moon has won again in Dubai for Mike de Kock. The horse who gave Mike his 1000th career winner a fortnight ago did it once more, in impressive style. Victory Moon raced last night (Thursday 27/12) in the Al Nahklee (350 000 DH), over 1700m, at Nad Al Sheba racecourse, and won by an astonishing 9,5 lengths on the dirt track. The jockey was Irishman Wayne Smith. The Al Nahklee race is regarded as a pointer to the three-year-old classics coming up in Dubai in February and March, 2003, and Victory Moon pulverised a competitive field including County Cat (5th recently under top weight in a Nursery at Ascot) and the highly rated Seattle Fitz. Said Mike: "Smith kept Victory Moon a little wide and out of the kickback. He was in 5th position as they came around the final bend, but moved up gradually and had their measure about 400m out. He won with plenty in hand. The others had absolutely nothing to come." Victory Moon's next race will be the UAE Guineas ($US200 000) in February, and then he wll be aimed at the UAE Derby ($US 2 million) on Dubai World Cup night. He has won the equivalent of R600,000 in only two starts in Dubai and looks set for a great season. Congratulations to Dean Maroun and his syndicate! |
