Monday, 2 September 2002

Widely traveled Australian six year old DELTA FORM scored an upset win in the Del Mar Handicap Gr 2 in California yesterday. Purchased at the 1998 Australian Easter Yearling Sale for $US85,000, the son of Marscay and former champion filly Arborea, was shipped to South Africa where he emerged as one of the leading middle distance runners in the country.

He was subsequently sold to American interests and now runs for Gary Barber and Team Valor, under the care of trainer Jenine Sahadi. His Del Mar victory was his second win in five starts in the US, with the first prize purse of $US150,000 lifting his overall winnings to approximately $US400,000.
