Sadler’s
Wells’ daughters also enjoyed a fruitful season, producing the likes
of French Group One winners Musical Chimes, Whipper and leading Epsom
Derby fancy for 2004 American Post. Coolmore’s
flagship sire is by far the most successful sire in pattern race
history heading the list with 117 winners. His total is almost double
that of the runner up, close relative Nureyev on 60 winners. Sadler’s
Wells most successful sire son, In The Wings, also enjoyed a banner
year with 12 pattern race wins from 8 winners. Mamool and Fidelite
both were successful at Group One level for 18 year old. In The Wings
is a versatile stallion with his offspring enjoying success from six
furlongs to a mile and a half. Darshaan
was third on the list with 10 pattern race wins. Horse of the Year
Dalakhani and Mezzo Soprano both tasted Group One success in France
while Necklace won the Moyglare Stud Stakes in Ireland. Danehill
was quieter than recent years but still had nine pattern race wins to
his credit highlighted by French 2000 Guineas Clodovil and top class
stayer Westerner. His son Danehill Dancer was represented by three
pattern race winners for four Group successes including the wins at
Royal Ascot brilliant
Choisir. He is
followed by Storm Cat and Peintre Celebre both represented by 8
pattern wins. Both enjoyed plenty of Group One success - Storm Cat with
two year olds, One Cool Cat and Denebola as well as French Oaks winner
Nebraska Tornado. Peintre Celebre was represented by German Derby
winner Dai Jin and Gran Criterium winner Pearl of Love. By far and away the most successful first season sire by pattern race wins is Fasliyev. The Coolmore sensation had a cracking first year which saw his stud fee tripled to 75,000 guineas for this year. Represented by the brilliant Chevely Park Stakes winner Carry On Katie amongst others, Fasliyev had six pattern race wins. |
