The
three year old filly was previously stakes placed when third in the
Miss Grillo Stakes prior to Saturday’s success. Lucifer’s
Stone captured the mile and an eighth turf race by half a length over
favourite Dynamia. Honey Ryder was further back in third. Lucifer’s
Stone has won three of her six starts and just under $130,000. Trained
by Linda Rice who describes her as “an incredible filly”,
Lucifer’s Stone will now have some time off. Horse Chestnut, also represented by Group One horse Tabiacchi and Group Three second Chester Le Street, stands at Claiborne Farm for $10,000. Another
boost for the former South African Horse of the Year, is that Demi
O’Byrne bought a colt for $500,000 at the recent Two Year Olds In
Training Sale. Horse Chestnut finished 33rd on the North American First Season Sires List last year. |
