The former South African raced Dancal won the Grade three Violet Handicap on Friday evening at the Meadowlands in the United States. The daughter of Mujadil was coming a solid second in the Grade three Noble Damsel behind Wonder Again. The five year old mare, ridden by Javier Castellano, won the mile and a 16th by a comfortable two lengths.

Behind her in second was the smart Grand Lodge filly, Madeira Mist. The latter was coming off a Grade three win in Canada. Something Ventured was third, a further one and three quarter lengths back. Graded winners Delta Princess and Caught In The Field were fourth and fifth in the seven horse field.

Dancal is now trained by Todd Pletcher. The mare has now won 11 of 21 starts, in South Africa, Dubai and the U.S.
