The impressive winner of yesterday's Prix Noailles (Gp2), Gentlewave, is out of winning Saumarez mare, Saumareine. Gentlewave is now unbeaten in three starts. The son of champion sire Monsun only beat five horses but the fourth home, Linda's Lad, was a Gp1 winner at two. The second colt home, Bremen, is half-brother, by Sadler's Wells, to Travers Stakes hero Deputy Commander.
The Prix Noailles is one of the first major French Derby trials.
Another horse to win impressively yesterday was Visindar. The son of Sinndar, something of a talking horse, has been favourite for this year's Epsom Derby as a result of his impressive debut win at Longchamps yesterday. The colt had attracted a lot of attention prior to yesterday's win and bids to give his trainer Andre Fabre his first Epsom success although he will need to improve to do so. The colt is from the family of Swale and Forty Niner.
