Kingmambo, who has recently returned to the breeding shed, was represented by his second English 1000 Guineas winner on Sunday. His daughter, Russian Rhythm, won the 1000 Guineas in 2003, before going on to win three other Group One's. She is now in foal to Pivotal.

His daughter, Virginia Waters came from off the pace to beat Maids Causeway, out of a Kingmambo mare, into second place. Virginia Waters previously won the Leopardstown 1000 Guineas Trial at her last start.

Another daughter, Tarfah, continued her progress with a gritty win in the Group Three Dahlia Stakes over former Epsom Oaks third, Summitville. Favourite, Red Bloom, was unplaced.

A son, Alkaased, won the Jockey Club Stakes over Grand Prix de Saint Cloud winner, Gamut. Dual Coronation Cup winner, Warrsan, ran third. Alkaased, out of a sister to Prix du Cadran winner San Sebastian, has won four times to date for Luca Cumani.

His son, Kingsalsa, has begun his stud career with a flourish and currently leads the French freshman sires list. Another son, King's Best, sired Group One performer, Dubai Surprise, in his first crop.

The only son of Kingmambo at stud in South Africa is Parade Leader. The latter stands at Lammerskraal.
