KZN Racing Awards

14 November 2007

A special night racemeeting, to host the KZN Racing Awards and to reward owners and trainers in KwaZulu-Natal for their continued support, is to be held by Gold Circle at Greyville Racecourse on Friday, 7 December 2007.

During the eight-race meeting, with each race carrying a stake of R100 000, the annual racing awards will be presented in the Champions’ Room where owners that have been nominated for awards and those that have runners on the night will be accommodated.

The races on the evening will be reserved for horses trained by permanently domiciled KZN trainers and will include horses from secondary yards that have been permanently based in KZN since December 2006.

In addition to the R100 000 stake, each race will carry a R10 000 owners’ prize provided that at least one registered owner, who is a KZN member of Gold Circle, is present at the racemeeting and is racing in the Champions’ Room, to receive the prize. There will also be a R2 000 trainers’ prize. Both prizes will be subject to a “skins” type promotion where the prizes will be carried over to following races until won if the relative owners or trainers are not present.

The cost of the evening in the Champions’ Room is R100 per person for a scrumptious buffet dinner with a cash bar. Bookings can be made through Dale Brereton-Stiles by phone (031-314-1639), fax (031-314-1760) or e-mail at daleb@goldcircle.co.za.

While the dress code for awards functions in the past has been “black tie”, it has been relaxed for this occasion but gentlemen are urged to dress appropriately – black tie, suit or jacket and tie - and for the ladies, well just keep looking as wonderful as always.
