MEDIA RELEASE - QUEEN'S PLATE

3 February 2003

Gold Circle is pleased to announce that Sun International is to become involved in the Queen’s Plate racemeeting which will take place on 13 March at Kenilworth Racecourse. Due to their involvement, stakes for both the Queen’s Plate and the Cape Breeders’ Cup Paddock Stakes will be increased.

The Queen’s Plate will be run in association with Sun International for the stake of R500 000 while the Paddock Stakes will be boosted to R250 000.

This is the 143rd renewal of the Queen’s Plate, a race steeped in history and one of the most prominent races on the South African racing calendar. It is the race where the young challengers meet the older campaigners to highlight South Africa’s potential Champion Miler.

Gold Circle is thrilled with Sun International’s involvement and looks forward to building this great race together in the future.
