South Africa’s star sprinter, National Currency, will be out of racing for approximately three months. The colt is thought to have been stung or bitten by a scorpion or spider.

This means the four year old will miss the Golden Sheehan, which is to be run on World Cup night on the 27th of March. It is hoped that the colt can be aimed at Royal Ascot in early June.

National Currency, Champion Sprinter last year, was a devastating winner of his first race in Dubai following a gallant second in the Hong Kong Sprint.
