RECORDS FALL AT KEENELAND

Cash Run brought a new record price for a broodmare at auction at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale yesterday. The daughter of Seeking The Gold was sold for $7.1 million dollars to John Magnier, who bought out partner Satish Sanan. Cash Run, winner of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies in 1999, is in foal to Storm Cat. She is a half sister to Grade one winner Forestry, a son of Storm Cat. She traces back to Myrtlewood.  

The all time leading female earner in North America, Spain, is also in foal to twice leading sire, Storm Cat. Winner of the Breeders' Cup Distaff in 2000, she was runner up in the same race the following year. The daughter of Thunder Gulch was bought for $5.3 million by Dromoland Farm.  Her weanling by Storm Cat was the highest priced on the day selling for $2.4 million and like his dam was bought by Dromoland Farm. 

Composure, retired this year following her win in the Santa Anita Oaks, was bought by John Ferguson for $3.6 million. The three year old filly is in foal to this year’s leading North American sire, A.P. Indy. The daughter of Touch Gold is out of Graded stakes winner, Party Cited. 

Last season’s Eclipse winner, Golden Apples was sold as a broodmare prospect for $3.4 million by Shadwell Farm. The five year old daughter of Pivotal is a half sister to Group three winner Alexandra Three D. 

It was the first day of the sale which continues until the 13th of November-next Monday.
