SUMMERHILL STUD FARM TOUR

24 August 2005

Gold Circle is organising a bus tour to Summerhill and Hartford House in October. This tour is ideal for company entertainment as well as for individuals who wish to relax and enjoy a day out.

The Summerhill Stud in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands is South Africa’s leading breeding establishment and finished the past season with stake earnings of R2-million more than the two top Cape studs, Maine Chance and Highlands Farms.

Run by Mick Goss and featuring a powerful band of top stallions, the stud is beautifully appointed and maintained. Horses bred there earned about R8-million in stakes in the 2004/2005 season.

Summerhill Stud adjoins Hartford House, a spectacular estate which in it’s day was one of the leading studs in the country. It is now part of the Summerhill operation and is one of the leading hotels in the region.

The tour will leave the Gold Circle Offices at Greyville Racecourse at 7.30am on Friday, 7 October 2005, to arrive at Hartford House for refreshments and snacks at 9am. The Mooi River area is steeped in history and there will be a brief historical tour of the area at 9.30am.

The party will move to Summerhill at 10.30am to watch the gallops on the training track and to inspect the stallions and foals and witness a covering.

The party will return to Hartford House for a leisurely five-star lunch at 2pm after which they will return to Durban.

Should you be interested in taking part, at a cost of R250 per person (inclusive of transport), please contact Gill Simpkins on 031 314 1579 for further details and bookings.
