The Keeneland September Yearling Sale is as usual full of quality. Top sires are represented like Storm Cat, Wild Again, Danzig, A.P. Indy, Gone West, Kingmambo, Kris S and Sadler’s Wells. Promising younger sires with offspring on sale include Awesome Again, Grand Slam, Tale of the Cat and the sensational Fasliyev. Other exciting young sires represented include Stravinsky, Desert Prince, Forest Wildcat, Fusaichi Pegasus, Giant’s Causeway and Distorted Humor. Horse Chestnut has 34 yearlings on offer. 

The sale also represents the last chance to buy offspring of the late, great sires Nureyev and Seattle Slew. It also has one of the few Dubai Millenniums born - a half brother to Grade 1 winner Dreams Gallore. There is also a filly by Forty Niner, now based in Japan. 

Many top mares are represented as well. These include former South African race fillies, Circle of Life, Faralmond and Tempter. Circle of Life, whose half brother, African Lion, recently won the Champions Cup, is represented by a Gone West colt. Faralmond, a previous Equus Champion Older Female has a Woodman colt. Tempter, winner of the Lord Somerset Plate, has a filly by North America’s leading freshman sire, Stravinsky.

Super Sheila was a top sprinter here as well and the daughter of leading broodmare sire, Last Tycoon, is represented by a colt by the late Saint Ballado.  She is already dam of a stakes placed Gone West filly in Gone On Sheila. The mighty Empress Club has a colt by Kentucky Derby hero, Fusaichi Pegasus.

Other high class mares represented include Arborea (dam of Delta Form) who has a War Chant colt, Balistroika by a Rahy half brother to Russian Rhythm, a colt out of French 1000 Guineas winner Bluemamba by champion sire Storm Cat, a half sister to champion Silver Charm by Silver Deputy, and a filly out of Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Cash Run by Storm Cat.

Other Group/Grade 1 winners represented include Catchascatchcan, Clear Mandate, Dream Team, Fairy Heights, Heritage of Gold, Kostroma, Larida and her daughter Magic of Life, Serena’s Song, Only Royale, Perfect Arc, Sacahuista, Safely Kept, Sierra Madre and Twilight Ridge. 

They are also half and full siblings to Unbridled’s Song, One Cool Cat, Point Given, Elusive Quality, Geri, Golden Ballet, Mash One, Tout Charmant, Favorite Trick and the recently retired Lido Palace.
