Saftote Champion Punter Competition

Saftote Media Release
12 October 2003

THE punter who uses Maddog Massey as a pseudonym, has built up a significant lead after the third weekend in the first of four Saftote Champion Punter competitions this season.
Maddog Massey has a balance of R7 343, which is over R4 000 clear of second-placed Wackjack, and will probably look at playing it safe on the forthcoming final weekend so as to consolidate his lead and win the contest.
Maddog Massey's bets last weekend included successful Win bets on Starman at Arlington on Friday, Roberto's Badge at Turffontein on Saturday and Prince Luke at Scottsville on Sunday.
Current Saftote Champion Punter Wackjack will be doing his best to overhaul the leader. His best bets last weekend included a Win bet on Glad Doll in Race 1 at Scottsville and his current balance is R3 263.
In third place is Mark Mansoor, who had success with both Win and Swinger bets. His most profitable bet was on Colleen in Race 8 at Turffontein, where he won R1440 for a R200 Win bet that contributed significantly to his closing balance of R3 040.
The River Rats shot up 20 places into fourth position with a closing balance is R2 598, resulting mainly from an astute Swinger taken with Danigma and Steven Charles at Scottsville last Sunday. The Swinger yielded R885 for a R150 bet. Cobobjohn holds fifth place, having had good returns from Win bets including Arabian Ace and Triton at Arlington last Friday and Sugar Prince at Kenilworth on Saturday. He finished the weekend with a balance of R2 564.
