The chairman of Harness Racing South Africa, Dean Latimer, has
confirmed that a Memorandum of Understanding and Co-operation
Agreement has been signed with Svenska Travsportens Centralförbund
(STC), the regulatory authority for harness racing in Sweden.
“The purpose of this MOU is to expand a frame-work of co-operation
between STC and HRSA to implement mutually beneficial programs
and projects which will lead to the creation of a sustainable
harness racing industry with integrity in South Africa. Training
and working personnel exchanges are just two of the areas being
contemplated” he said.
The simulcasting of Swedish harness racing is already in place,
and it is anticipated that staging of regular local harness
racing will follow in the third quarter of 2007.
