TOP 3-Y-OLDS TO STAY IN SA

(Media Release)
29 July 2003

The two top three-year-olds in South Africa, Dynasty and Yard-Arm, who turn four at the end of this week, may not be lost to South African racing – not in the immediate future anyway.

The two fought out the finish of the Vodacom Durban July with Dynasty beating Yard-Arm to the line and talk was rife that Yard-Arm was destined for Dubai and Dynasty for Hong Kong.

In the case of Yard-Arm, prospective plans to race the gelding overseas have been shelved for now with trainer Geoff Woodruff confirming today that the gelding would return to Gauteng in about a month where he would be prepared for the Summer Cup.

Asked about future plans to race Yard-Arm overseas, Woodruff replied that there was none and "we will race him here in South Africa."

Trainer Dean Kannemeyer said today that future plans for the Fort Wood colt had still to be finalized. Once he returned with the colt to Cape Town after Saturday’s Canon Gold Cup, further discussions on his future would be held with the colt’s owners, Fieldspring Racing.

However, there was a possibility that Dynasty would remain in South Africa to contest the summer season in the Cape at least until after the J&B Met.
