Former July winner, Trademark, ran second in the Group 3 Poker Handicap. The gelded son of Goldmark ran War Zone to half a length on Sunday. Trademark was making his American debut after a consistent but winless campaign in Dubai. Trademark,
who came wide into the stretch, defeated the likes of Graded/Group
winners Saint Verre, Proud Man, Equerry and Finality. The
Poker Handicap, run at Belmont, has been won by top horses in the
past. The 2002 winner, Volponi, went on to win the Breeders Cup
Classic. War Zone was previously a Group 3 winner in France. A son of Danzig, he started favourite for the mile race. |
