Two UK race meetings on weekdays

Saftote Media Release
14 October 2003

Betting on British races with Saftote is immensely popular with South African horseplayers and the menu of UK racing will be expanded to include two race meetings on all weekdays and some Saturdays and Sundays from tomorrow.
Phumelela-Gold Enterprises, the joint venture between the two horseracing and tote betting operators that is managed by Phumelela and controls all media and information rights emanating from the two companies, has televised and offered betting on the pick of British racing since June in terms of a deal with UK-based attheraces.
Initially, one UK race meeting was screened daily on Tellytrack from Monday to Friday. This was soon expanded to include weekends and since last month extra races have been shown on Thursdays and Fridays.
This menu will be expanded from tomorrow with the introduction of a second UK race meeting daily Monday through Friday. Saftote betting will also be in operation on a second UK meeting on Saturdays and Sundays, when there is only one South African fixture.
There is only one local race meeting this Saturday (18 October) and consequently Saftote will operate tote betting on two UK fixtures on the day. Two full UK race meetings when there is only one local fixture will enhance the enjoyment of horseplayers, both in terms of entertainment and additional betting opportunities.
For horseplayers in Phumelela regions, venue key UK or 3 should be marked to take bets on the principal UK race meeting daily. For the second meeting, mark venue key 2 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and venue key W.CAPE or 4 on Thursdays and Fridays. The venue key for the second meeting on a weekend will vary depending on where racing in South Africa is taking place. For this Saturday, mark venue key W.CAPE or 4 for the second UK meeting. Gold Circle will display the relevant venue keys for UK racing in their TABs.
Five Saftote betting pools are in operation on all UK races? Win, Place, Swinger, Exacta and Trifecta.
The popularity of UK racing in this country can be attributed to several factors. It's in the right time frame and South African horseplayers have been quick to identify the inherent integrity and quality of the product.
British racing has also enhanced horseplayers' entertainment, both in terms of added betting opportunities and the chance to see many of the world's best horses and races.
Horseplayers are reminded that tote sheets and Computaform for all UK racing can be obtained at www.saftote.com
