The International Classification for 2003 was announced on Monday. The enigmatic Hawk Wing topped the classification on 133. The handsome son of Woodman was a devastating 11 winner of the group one Lockinge Stakes in May defeating the likes of Breeders Cup Mile hero Domedriver on that occasion. He subsequently ran unplaced when hot favourite in the Queen Anne Stakes, was found to have injured himself and was retired to Coolmore Stud.
Arc runner up Mubtaker was the second highest older male on 130.
Pacific Classic winner Candy Ride, the globetrotting Falbrav, High Chaparral, Johar and probably U.S. Horse of the Year, Mineshaft were rated on 127.
The highest rated older mare was last year's North American Horse of the Year, Azeri.

Another horse to have been retired is Dalakhani. The once beaten three year old, a four time group one winner, is second on the Classification and heads the three year olds at 132. Interestingly enough, despite being beaten by Alamshar in the Irish Derby, he is strangely rated one pound ahead of the subsequent King George winner. The three year old fillies were judged to be a moderate lot with neither Breeders Cup Mile winner Six Perfections or her 1000 Guineas conqueror, Russian Rhythm, making the top twenty three year olds. This seems extraordinary considering Six Perfections twice defeated some of the world's best turf males, but Irish Oaks/ Breeders Cup F&M Turf runner up L'Ancresse the highest rated three year old filly.

The top rated two year old colt was Bago, at a lowly 121. The son of Nashwan was rated two pounds ahead of top rated filly, Attraction and Daylami's talented son Grey Swallow. Bago may miss the English 2000 Guineas according to connections. His close relation, Prix Marcel Boussac winner Denebola was rated second best two year old filly at 114.
The much hyped One Cool Cat was given a rating of 118 equal to disqualified Middle Park "winner" Three Valleys.
