AMENDMENT TO VODACOM DURBAN JULY RACE CONDITIONS 4 April 2005

| Following representations
that have been made following publication of the new Vodacom Durban
July conditions, the Working Group met this afternoon, April 1 2005,
and reviewed all of the conditions. Today’s meeting was attended by
Messrs Tom Mezher, Mathew Lips, Colin Buckham, Tony Rivalland, Chad
Cooke and Colin Aitken. It has been unanimously agreed by the Working Group that the conditions as published on March 29, 2005 remain with the exception of the bottom weight in the four-year-olds and older category, which has been reduced by 1 kg to 51 kg for colts and geldings and 50 kg for fillies and mares. Accordingly, the amended conditions for the Vodacom Durban July are as follows:
Weights The weights shall be allotted by the Handicapper in his sole discretion and without necessarily having regard to horses’ merit ratings but subject to the following:
1. The weights to be carried shall not exceed 58 kg and shall not be less than 50kg.
2. Minimum weight for 4 year olds and older: Colts and Geldings 51 Kg Fillies and Mares 50 kg
Maximum weight for 4 year olds and older: Colts and Geldings 58 kg Fillies and Mares 57 kg
3. Minimum weight for 3 year olds: Colts and Geldings 51 kg Fillies 50 kg
Maximum weight for 3 year olds: Colts and Geldings 54.5 kg Fillies and Mares 53.5 kg
4. The handicapper may raise weights within his sole discretion in terms of Rule 54.2.3 of the National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa.
5. No penalties shall be incurred after the publication of weights.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF FINAL FIELD Announcement of the final field of 20 horses will take place on Tuesday, 14 June 2005.
PUBLIC GALLOPS Thursday, 23 June 2005 – It shall be a condition of acceptance that all runners participate in public gallops scheduled for Thursday, 23 June. In the event of exceptional unforeseen circumstances Gold Circle may in its sole discretion preclude a horse/s from this condition. Further, Gold Circle reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to allow a horse/s stabled out of province on the day of the gallops, to work out at a racecourse in the province where stabled, prior to 23 June provided that the work out is filmed and screened on 23 June. The nature of each horse’s workout is at the discretion of the connections. |
