Plumpton Chairman Peter Savill has publicly voiced his satisfaction
at the
successful relationship between Plumpton and At The Races as
the first year
of operation of their media rights agreement draws to a close.
With its season starting in September each year, Plumpton was
one of the
last courses to play its hand in deciding which media rights
option it was
going to pursue this time last year, and according to Savill
the decision
to go with At The Races has undoubtedly proved the right one.
He said: "We always believed that reaching the widest
audience with our
coverage would benefit the course, both from a betting and sponsorship
point of view, and with ATR having already achieved an average
viewer-ship
of 1.2 million a month, this is definitely proving to be the
case."
As has been widely publicised already, ATR has already passed
back in
excess of £2 million to its racecourse partners and there
have been no
requests for funding by its shareholders. Savill confirmed "Plumpton
has
received its share of the media rights payments from day one
as promised by
ATR and it is most pleasing to see the various revenue streams
growing as
they are."
With ATR very clearly committed to raising the profile and
popularity of
grass roots jump racing, the marketing support provided by ATR
has been
invaluable for Plumpton. Savill continued: "On the marketing
front ATR has
been a great supporter of Plumpton over the past 12 months and
is committed
to working with us to profile our key meetings and events. This
has helped
increase our racecourse attendance, which last season was a
record, as well
as both on and off course betting turnover."
Plumpton's second season under the "new" ATR banner
gets underway with its
popular Ladies Day meeting on Sunday 18th September.
