The South African breeding industry enjoyed a big weekend with Warning Zone winning the Marie G Krantz Memorial Handicap at the Fairgrounds in the US and Sambuca running third in the Hong Kong Derby.

David Ferraris won the aforementioned Derby with the superbly bred Vengeance of Rain. The latter was ridden by Anthony Delpech.
Vengeance of Rain, a son of Zabeel and top class mare Danelagh, won the Derby by nearly three lengths from the top class former New Zealand galloper, Russian Pearl.

Warning Zone, a champion two year old filly when trained by Mike de Kock, now races for Team Valor.
The daughter of Elliodor won the Fair Grounds feature comfortably by a length over graded stakes winner, Sister Swank.

Fort Wood's half brother Timber Country was represented by Rosehill Guineas winner Eremein on Saturday. The colt is now regarded as a lively AJC Derby contender.
