DEATH OF BLUE HEN

The outstanding producer and stakes performer, Battle Creek Girl, has died at the age of 27. She had been pensioned since last year when she produced a filly by Dixie Union.

The mare, who won three times and was stakes placed, is the dam of new sire, Parade Leader.

A daughter of leading sire, His Majesty, Battle Creek Girl was a three parts sister to the dam of champion turf mare, Soaring Softly.

She ran at 2 and three, her best performance coming in a third place in the Polly Drummond Stakes.

Battle Creek Girl made her name as the dam of no less than 15 winners and six stakes winners. Her daughter Wavering Girl was named champion two year old filly in Canada. She in turn produced grade one winner Military.

Battle Creek Girl produced two graded stakes to Kingmambo in Parade Ground and Parade Leader. Parade Ground won over three quarters of a million dollars and four graded stakes races. He was also grade one placed. Parade Leader was a brilliant winner of the New Orleans Handicap over the high class Graeme Hall. He now stands at Lammerskraal.

Battle Creek Girl is also the dam of the high class nine time winner Tricky Creek. The son of Clever Trick won three graded stakes races and ran second in the grade one Blue Grass Stakes.

Tricky Creek’s three parts sister, Speed Dialer, won the grade two Arlington Washington Lassie Stakes. She is the dam of stakes winner Storm Alert.

Another daughter, Battle Hymn, is the dam of stakes winner Gold History.
