CANON GOLD CUP CHARITY

9 August 2004

As a fitting end of season tribute to the community Gold Circle offered free marquees to 13 charity organisations at horseracing’s marathon, the Cannon Gold Cup. Invited guests helped fill the coffers of a broad spectrum of charity organisations ranging from child welfare to lifesaving, while enjoying a fun-filled day of fashion and equine excitement.

Organisers for the various charity organisations were unanimous in their appreciation for the hospitality tents, which were filled to capacity. PRO for Phoenix Hospice, Esay Reddy (pictured on right, with fundraiser Kogie Naidoo) said that the funds raised on the day would be used in an effort to find a permanent home for Phoenix Hospice that will become a fully equipped care centre in the northern region of Durban.

Judge Zac Yacoob (pictured centre) with Bobby Pillay (left) and Paul Singh patron of the Southern Light Association of the Blind And Deaf expressed his gratitude for the charity effort. Judge Yacoob said: “Blessed are those of able mind, body and health and blessed is he who gives to those who aren’t”.
