Gold Circle Western Cape is pleased to announce that The Betting World Juvenile Series will be staged at Kenilworth Racecourse this Winter Season.

The races concerned will be:

Leg 1

THE SOMERSET 1200 (Listed)

Saturday 12 April 2003 - STAKE INCREASED TO R100 000

Nominations were received on Monday 31 March

Leg 2

CAPE OF GOOD HOPE NURSERY (Grade 3)

Saturday 24 May 2003 - STAKE R100 000

Nominations due by Monday 12 May

Leg 3

THE LANGERMAN (Grade 3)

Saturday 21 June 2003 - STAKE INCREASED TO R100 000

Nominations due by Monday 9 June

A points system over the 3 races will determine the winner of a R20 000 prize to the Champion of the Juvenile Series.

Points will be awarded as follows:

First Place – 10 points

Second Place – 6 points

Third Place – 4 points

Fourth Place – 2 points

In Addition:

A BONUS OF R100 000 WILL BE PAID SHOULD ONE HORSE WIN

ALL THREE LEGS!

The Series sponsorship is tied in with a Grooms’ Educational Bursary Award to the Grooms’ School Trust and a WPOTA Grooms’ Challenge Series will be held, coinciding with the legs of the Juvenile Series and culminating on Winter Guineas** day Sunday 4 May.

To begin the Grooms’ Series, an additional race has been programmed for Saturday 12 April, details as follows:


KENILWORTH RACECOURSE SATURDAY 12 APRIL 2003

Event 8 1200m GROOMS’ MAIDEN PLATE (mixed) R35 000

Nomination Fee: R60

Nominations Close 11h00 MONDAY 31 MARCH 2003.

Weights: Colts, Geldings and Horses – 62.5kg

Fillies and Mares – 60kg

The Western Province Grooms’ School Trust offers a 25% bonus to any graduate of the Grooms’ School who finishes in the first four in any of the Grooms’ races or in the first four of the Grooms’ Challenge Series.

Details of the conditions of entry, riding fees and the Points System are available from the Racecard Department or the WPOTA.

Acceptance is under the strict understanding that the winning rider present him/herself to be interviewed directly after weighing in. The eventual winner of the Challenge Series will also be required to attend the presentation ceremony.
