Mike de Kock bids for further international success when he sends out Excalibur and Right Approach on Sunday, 15th May 2005.
The pair run in the Singapore Airlines International Cup at Kranji.

ALEXANDER GOLDRUN: Unplaced in the Duty Free behind Elvstroem. Won her previous two starts - both group one. Top class filly was also placed in both the French Oaks and Irish 1000 Guineas. Has ground to find with the likes of Right Approach, although she was not suited by the pace of the Duty Free and a stronger pace will help her cause. She will also appreciate the extra distance. International rating 116.

SEEKING THE DIA: The best bred horse in the field - being by Storm Cat out of Prix Maurice de Gheest winner Seeking the Pearl. Unplaced at his last start when beaten over 13 lengths. Ran second in his previous two starts, including a neck defeat in the Grade One Kawasaki Kinen. The colt has won three graded races. He has won five of 13. International rating of 113.

RIGHT APPROACH: A slightly unlucky third in the Duty Free behind Elvstroem and Whilly. He came from far back and was not suited by the slow pace. Another in the field with his share of physical problems, he is said to have traveled extremely well and looks likely to fight out the finish. Bids to further add to his substantial stud value here. International rating of 115.

MUMMIFY: Former Caulfield Cup winner. Not disgraced at his last start when fifth at Caulfield under 62 kgs and beaten under two lengths. Previously was third, beaten nearly four lengths by QE II disappointment Grand Armee over ten furlongs. This is his sole placing in his last eight starts. High class Australian galloper has won seven of 43 starts. International rating 116.

SAMANDO: She comes off a third place in the Prix d'Harcourt, beaten half a length. She won the first group race of the French season, when taking the Prix Exbury from high class Lord du Sud. Winner of the Prix de Royallieu last season, she has won five of her 15 starts. A daughter of Hernando, she is a close relation of Gold Bowl second Cycad. International rating of 109.

EPALO: Last year's winner. Very coltish before the running of the QEII and ran unplaced behind Vengeance of Rain. A fluent winner on his seasonal debut in Germany prior to that run.
He placed in both the Man O'War and Arlington Million last year. The son of Lando has won nine of 23 and been unplaced just three times. International rating of 117.

EXCALIBUR: Lightly raced five year old, has made just four starts. Ran an excellent fourth in Dubai last time, when slightly unlucky not to get closer following a six month break and change of stables. Takes a huge leap up from listed and handicap races to group one. A son of Danehill he is from Blushing Groom's family. Mike de Kock trains the entire, who previously was with Aiden
O'Brien. International rating 109.

PHOENIX REACH: Slightly disappointing when fifth in the QEII behind Vengeance of Rain and Greys Inn. Beat the latter when triumphant in the Dubai Sheema Classic. Top class colt has been running all over the globe and it remains to be seen whether the travel has taken anything out of him. Lightly raced, he has made just 12 starts. He seems to appreciate it a bit more ground. International rating 116.

STAR OVER THE BAY: Former claimer, who has excelled since being claimed by Mike Mitchell. The grey son of Cozzene was a slightly disappointing fifth in the San Luis Rey last time out, but impressed when winning the Sunshine Millions Turf. The game front runner ran last in the Breeders Cup Turf, but prior to that had won three graded stakes in a row, including the Grade One Clement L Hirsh Memorial. International rating 115.

SHAGGADELIC: Pat Shaw's runner has won just once but has run well against the best in his native Argentina. Second in the Derby, beaten two lengths, he was touched off in the Guineas. This is his Singapore debut and he looks to have been thrown in the deep end.

LIGHT OF SUCCESS: Thrashed Mount Street last time out over ten furlongs. Was well beaten by Mayo's Music previously in the Chairman's Trophy. Also has plenty of ground to find with the likes of Terfel.

MAYO'S MUSIC: Runner up in the Singapore Gold Cup, beaten a neck by Raul. Beaten seven lengths by Light of Success last time out. Scored a fluent win in the Chairman's Trophy at his penultimate start.

MOUNT STREET: Former runner up in the New Zealand Derby. Ran second, beaten nearly three lengths, behind Queen Elizabeth II Cup, to Light of Success. His last win came last year in New Zealand. Laurie Laxon trains the son of Kilimanjaro. He has won five of 25 starts.

RAUL: Winner of the Singapore Gold Cup. He has not win since, however. He also takes a big step up in class. Another trained by Laurie Laxon, he has won seven times.

TERFEL: Former useful UK galloper. He has been unplaced in his last two starts, albeit running not far off Light of Success and Bianconi. On the latter occasion Excalibur finished two lengths in front of the son of Lion Cavern. He has won six of 36 starts.
