The former South African based Dancal ran second in the Group 3 Noble Damsel Handicap at Belmont Park on Saturday. She was beaten a neck by the top class mare, Wonder Again. Wonder Again was a Grade 1 winner last year when she won the Garden City Breeders Cup Handicap over the top class Riskerverse. Dancal received three pounds from the winner, a daughter of Silver Hawk from Rakeen’s immediate family. She had the likes of Prix de la Foret winner Dedication behind as well as graded winners Stylish and Delta Princess.

Dancal was sent off the second favourite for the mile turf race.

Dancal was a multiple stakes winner in South Africa when trained by Mark Dixon. Her wins included the Flamboyant Stakes and the Group 3 Christmas Handicap .  She was also placed in the King’s Cup, second to Whacky Lad and fourth in the Greyville 1900 to champion Tytola.

The daughter of Mujadil had earlier run in Dubai where her successes included a win in the Listed Jebel Ali Mile defeating the likes of Northern Rock, Curule and compatriot Trademark.

Dancal is currently trained by Todd Pletcher, who enjoyed a record breaking Saratoga Meet. The Irish bred six year old mare, already a winner in the States, is now owned by Marlon Aronstam.
