DANEHILL'S SLIPPER INFLUENCE

Danehill achieved many impressive feats during his stud career. He was the first sire to be represented by 300 stakes winners, his sons twice ran 1-2 in the French 2000 Guineas and he achieved champion sire status in both the Northern and Southern hemispheres.
But his most impressive legacy seems to be the remarkable influence he has exerted on the Golden Slipper.
Danehill sired no fewer than five winners of the race - Flying Spur, Danzero, Merlene, Catbird, Ha Ha. His son Shovhog finished runner up in the race.
The first two have both, in turn, sired Slipper winners- Danzero's gelded son Dance Hero winning in 2004, whilst Flying Spur's daughter Forensics landed the spoils in Saturday's race.
Danehill's outstanding sire son Redoute's Choice has sired two Slipper winners (the young sireStratum, and mighty filly Miss Finland) already in his young career and looks to add to his considerable laurels.
Whilst there have been many outstanding sires down the ages, few have the complete global influence of the late, much missed Danehill. Few other great stallions have had his versatility in siring champion sprinters (Mozart) and outstanding stayers (Westerner).

Danehill is also broodmare sire of Vengeance of Rain, who won Saturday's Sheema Classic so impressively. His son Redoute's Choice, although not represented in the Slipper, was represented by Miss Finland, who landed her fifth Gp1 race in Saturday's Arrowfield Stud Stakes.
