DANEHILL 14 October 2005 |
|
Danehill's extraordinary year looks set to continue on Saturday. His son Oratorio is looking for his fourth Gp1 win in the Champion Stakes while his two-year-old sons George Washington and Horatio Nelson seek Dewhurst Stakes (Gp1) glory. Danehill, the first sire to be represented by 300 stakes winners, could well have further Gr1 success when daughter, Luas Line, runs in Saturday's Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup at Keeneland. Luas Line, who is already a Gr1 winner, takes on a high-class field but has been priced up favourite for the 1800 metres. Another daughter, Beauty Bright, has been made favourite for the Rockfel Stakes (Gp3) which forms part of the Champions Day undercard. Danehill is set to win his first UK sires title this year. The remarkable
Danzig horse also heads the two-year-old sires list by nearly a million
pounds! Danehill's sons George Washington and Horatio Nelson currently head
the betting for next year's English 2000 Guineas and Derby respectively.
His daughter, Rumplestiltskin, heads the market for the English 1000
Guineas. She is second favourite for the Oaks as her pedigree suggests
she may battle to get a mile and a half. Danehill may be gone but his influence remains staggering. With his
son Rock of Gibraltar to be represented by his first crop on the track
next year, Danehill's legacy looks unstoppable.
