One of the more consistent sire and broodmare sire around is Dixieland Band. The 26-year-old son of Northern Dancer and top racefilly Mississippi Mud has been to the fore of late, as the damsire of Breeders Cup Juvenile winner Street Sense and Melbourne Cup hero Delta Blues.

Dixieland Band, whose biggest win came in the Pennsylvania Derby (Gr2), has sired over 100 stakes winners and is one of the last remaining sons of Northern Dancer around. His sires sons include successful sires Dixie Union and Citidancer, whilst amongst his 100 plus stakes winners are the likes of Del Mar Dennis, Egyptband, Dixie Brass, Drum Taps, Spinning Round, Sharp Lisa and Bowman's Band. His daughters have produced the likes of Monarchos, Southern Image, Blues and Royals, Limehouse and Adonis.

He is scheduled to stand next year at Lane's End Farm for $50,000 although he turns 27.
