LOOKING AHEAD TO NEWMARKETS "DREAM MILE" 15 September 2005 |
|
Some of the key personalities involved with the three star
horses -
Dubawi, Rakti and Starcraft - set to contest what promises to be a sensational Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Newmarket a week tomorrow will be giving an update on their horses and discussing their hopes and expectations for the race. Between them, these three outstanding horses have already won 13 Group One races in five different countries and are now set for an eagerly anticipated showdown in the race acknowledged as the all-aged mile championship of Europe. Michael Jarvis, trainer of Rakti, and Luca Cumani, who took charge of the ex-Australian Starcraft at the start of the year, have confirmed their attendance on Tuesday and we are hoping to have a Godolphin representative present to give us the latest on Dubawi. We are also hoping that Frankie Dettori will be there to talk about his delight at the prospect of being reunited with Dubawi in the big race and to consider whether the Ascot Festival could possibly be as lucky for him at Newmarket as it has been at Ascot in the past! Newmarket's Managing Director, Lisa Hancock, will briefly set the scene for Newmarket's record-breaking autumn, when 18 Group Races, including 7 Group One's, will be run over a period of just 22 days. Clerk of the Course, Michael Prosser, will provide an update on the ground and how the Rowley Mile will be split over the autumn in order to ensure the best possible racing surface for such an important period of world class racing. 12.15pm* Champagne or coffee 12.30pm* Press Conference * IMPORTANT: If there is a divided race, the first race time is likely to be brought forward by half an hour to 1.15pm and the Press Conference would therefore start at 12 noon (with champagne and coffee from 11.45am) FOR MORE INFORMATION: Alistair Haggis, 01638 675 553 or 07884 026 487 |
