DUBAI MILLENNIUM’S FIRST FOAL |
By Sarah Whitelaw |
The late, great Dubai Millennium’s first foal was born on Sunday 13 January 2002 at Wimbledon Farm in Lexington, Kentucky. The chestnut colt is out of the extremely well bred Night Shift mare, Zelanda. Zelanda’s fourth dam is the outstanding champion, Petite Etoile and this is the great family of Nasrullah, Royal Charger, Aliysa and the recently deceased Oh So Sharp. |
Dubai Millennium died half way through his first season at stud this year. The once beaten champion died of grass sickness. The son of Seeking The Gold-Colorado Dancer by Shareef Dancer is thought to have left 60 odd mares in foal. Dubai Millennium’s one defeat came in the 1999 Epsom Derby (to Oath) but his impressive list of wins include the Dubai World Cup, Prince of Wales Stakes, Prix Jacques le Marois and the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes. |

The champion covered an outstanding book of mares and it is to be hoped his foals will continue the success sons of Seeking the Gold are beginning to enjoy at stud. |
