FANTASTIC LIGHT TO SHUTTLE By Sarah

|
The stallion is covering his first mares this year at Dalham Hall and the well bred son of Rahy promises to be immensely popular in Australia. Twice Emirates Champion, Fantastic Light was a horse who improved as he got older. Fantastic Light followed in the footsteps of Godolphin stars Daylami, Swain and Dubai Millennium as the bay won Group 1 races all over the globe. Trained by Sir Michael Stoute as a three year old and during the first part of his four year old campaign, Fantastic Light switched to Godolphin after his classy win in the Sheema Classic. Although he had a good year with a second in the King George and his first Grade 1 win in the Turf Classic, Fantastic Light improved at five. Regarded as a good horse, but not quite a great one, Fantastic Light was magnificent in his first start in the Tattersalls Gold Cup when beating group 1 winners Golden Snake and Kalanisi, form which he confirmed in the Prince of Wales next time out. Second to Derby hero Galileo in the King George and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes, Fantastic Light turned the tables on that rival in the Irish Champion Stakes winning after a long battle with Aiden O’Brien’s star. This was one of his more impressive wins as the talented Bach was a long way back in third. Fantastic Light was unlucky in the 2000 Breeders Cup Turf when fifth to Kalanisi. He made up for that when winning his final start, the 2001 Breeders Cup Turf, from St Leger winner, Milan. A son of outstanding sire Rahy, Fantastic Light is out of Nijinsky II mare, Jood, and comes from the family of Swain, Seaside Attraction, Golden Attraction and Cape Town. |
