Nicky Henderson has another powerful weapon in his armoury after
Grande Jete landed the first division of the Corscombe Novices'
Hurdle at Wincanton today by 16 lengths from Football Crazy.
Endorsing the promise he had shown on his debut in a hot event
at Bangor, Mick Fitzgerald's mount strolled to the front early in
the straight and won in the manner of a possible Cheltenham or Aintree
horse.
The 4-7 winner is owned in partnership by former trainer Jeremy
Hindley, Chubby Chandler and golfer Lee Westwood.
After this confidence-booster, Henderson said: "He was a good
horse as a three-year-old in South Africa and then went to Dubai
for a while, so this is very much plan F for him. I hope and think
he's quite smart. He has a very good attitude and loves his jumping.
"I shall certainly enter him for the two-miler at Cheltenham,
but I think he'd be equally the right type for Aintree."
