After an exciting year, the brilliant Dubai Millennium has been rated as the best in the world. Rated at 134 on the International Classifications, the son of Seeking The Gold and Colorado Dancer was unbeaten in three starts in his last season. He was rated 2 pounds clear of the best three year old colt, Sinndar and 4 pounds clear of the second best older horse, Montjeu. All three have been retired. The highest rated older mare was the brilliant Brazilian mare, Riboletta at 125, joint with last year’s Belmont Stakes winner Lemon Drop Kid. The highest rated sprinters were Namid and Kona Gold (Eclipse Champion Sprinter in USA) at 127. For the third consecutive year the highest rated stayer is the now retired Kayf Tara. The son of Sadler’s Wells was rated 122.
The highest rated three year old colt was dual Derby and Arc winner, Sinndar at 132. He was rated 5 pounds clear of the charismatic pair of Fusaichi Pegasus and Giant’s Causeway as well as the likely American "Horse of the Year" Tiznow. The best three year old filly was French Oaks heroine Egyptband, a daughter of Dixieland Band. She was rated at 126 two pounds ahead of classic winners Holding Court and King’s Best and German star Samum. Rated at 123 are the likes of Kentucky Derby second Aptitude, Preakness Stakes winner Red Bullet, Epsom Derby second Sakhee and Breeders Cup Mile hero War Chant.
The two year olds have been difficult to assess this year as there has been no standout star like Arazi, Celtic Swing or Xaar. The highest rated colt is the Boundary colt, Minardi a winner of the Middle Park Stakes and Phoenix Stakes, both group 1. Minardi is rated at 123. Whether he will stay a mile remains to be seen. The unbeaten Kingmambo colt, Okawango, winner of the Grand Criterium is next at 121. The highest rated filly is Superstar Leo at 120. The daughter of College Chapel was second in the Prix d’l Abbaye. Group 1 winning colts Bad As I Wanna Be and Tobougg are next at 119 and 120 respectively. Nashwan’s half brother Nayef is unbeaten and is rated at 119.
National Stakes winner Beckett, the 1.7 million guineas yearling, is rated 118. Racing Post Trophy winner Dilshaan is rated 116 as is Fillies Mile winner Crystal Music.
