Last year’s Champion three year old filly, Ipi Tombe, is being ultimately aimed at the Beverly D Stakes at Arlington. The daughter of Manshood won her first start impressively in Dubai recently.

Two years ago, another former de Kock filly, Spook Express, ran third in the Beverly D Stakes, run on Arlington Million day.

Purchased by Team Valor, Ipi Tombe will probably run in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes on World Cup night. She will stay with Mike de Kock until then prior to being transferred to the United States.

Once beaten in South Africa, Ipi Tombe began her career in Zimbabwe. She was beaten by Kournikova in her first start south of the Limpopo, but reversed form with the rival on her next start. She won her next three starts brilliantly, her wins including a devastating win in the SA Fillies Guineas.

Her three year old campaign ended with a narrow win over subsequent Met hero, Angus, in the July which was her last start in South Africa.
