Last year’s July winner, Ipi Tombe, has won her first run in Dubai. In a win described as” one of the most impressive trials in recent years”, the four year old filly smashed the race record by over two seconds.

The daughter of Manshood gave weight away to an international field in the listed Al Fahidi Fort at Nad Al Sheba on Thursday evening. Her win coming days after Angus, second to Ipi Tombe in the July, waltzed away with the J&B Met.

Consistent Royal Tryst and another July winner, Trademark, followed last year’s champion three year old filly home with second placed Royal Tryst beaten by just over two lengths.

Further back was the smart Compton Dragon, with the likes of previous Godolphin Mile winner Conflict, group 2 winner Masterful and July Stakes hero Meshaheer further back. The latter defeated no less than Rock of Gibraltar in the Coventry two years ago.

Ipi Tombe gave Mike de Kock his second feature win in Dubai, de Kock having been successful with Victory Moon in the Al Nakhlee previously.

It was a first ride and win for Kevin Shea, who said he would have been an unlucky loser after getting stuck on the inside.

Ipi Tombe is being set for a run in the Dubai Duty Free, although a run in the World Cup has not been ruled out.
