George Washington is a hot favourite to complete the English/Irish 2000 Guineas double on Saturday.
The brilliant colt faces ten other rivals in the Irish classic and his sole threat would seem to come from Decado.
ARAAFA : Was a good fourth in the English 2000 Guineas, but has plenty to find to overturn the form with George Washington. Araafa, the best son of his sire to date, was a smart two-year-old but not top class. Ran just two lengths off subsequent French 2000 Guineas (Gp1) hero Aussie Rules as a two-year-old. He has been working very well and can run into the money.
3 c Mull of Kintyre – Resurgence, by Polar Falcon
ARABIAN PRINCE: One of four runners trained by Aiden O'Brien. He has not run since finishing fifth in the Racing Post Trophy behind Palace Episode. He has won just once in four starts, but did run a close second to leading Derby fancy Septimus at two.
3 c Fusaichi Pegasus – Add, by Spectacular Bid
CARIBBEAN: One of the outsiders in the race. He ran a good race last time out when fourth to Ballydoyle's Derby hopeful Dylan Thomas in the Derby Trial. His only win to date has come over another Guineas runner, River Tiber. Caribbean beat the latter a short head and the form was duly franked by the latter's win next time out.
3 c Sadler's Wells – Quaestio, by Seeking the Gold
CROOKHAVEN : Still a maiden after four runs and is a complete outsider here.
3 c Dansili – My Mariam, by Salse
DECADO: Has won his last two starts impressively and has won three of four starts. The colt has been well backed to cause a surprise win here despite taking a substantial jump in class. Outclassed Sir Xaar last time out when scoring a fluent win in the Tetrarch Stakes (Gp3). Prior to that he defeated the smart filly Queen Cleopatra in a Listed race.
3 c Danehill Dancer – Pirie, by Green Dancer
GEORGE WASHINGTON : The hot favourite and likely winner. He was an outstanding winner of the English 2000 Guineas and faces a much easier task here. He has already won three Gp1 races and bids to add appeal to his future stallion page with a win here. The colt has won five of six starts.
3 c Danehill – Bordighera, by Alysheba
GOLDEN ARROW: Was second to George Washington in the National Stakes last year. He has been beaten in both starts this year and ran six lengths behind Dylan Thomas last time out. He has won once in six starts.
3 c Danehill – Cheal Rose, by Dr Devious
HELIOSTATIC: Was a useful two year old, running second to the top-class Horatio Nelson and breaking his maiden second time out. Began his three-year-old campaign with a second place finish in the Guineas trial behind French Guineas flop Yasoodd. Ran last in his previous start and looks to need more ground than a mile.
3 c Galileo – Affianced, by Erin's Isle
HURRICANE CAT: Won the Horris Hill Stakes (Gp3) at two, beating Guineas sixth Final Verse. He was not disgraced when third to Decado on his three-year-old debut in the Tetrarch Stakes (Gp3). He has won two of four starts and a good run here would enhance his stallion potential no end. His dam was a champion in the US and her dam was a Gp1 half-sister to Dayjur.
3 c Storm Cat – Sky Beauty, by Blushing Groom
RIVER TIBER: Broke his maiden at Gowran Park last time out. Lightly raced, having made just three starts but needs to improve drastically. It remains to be seen if he will run here.
3 c Danehill – Heavenly Whisper, by Halling
YASOODD: A tough colt, he made eight starts at two, losing the Prix la Rochette (Gp3) on disqualifcation. He made a winning start to his three-year-old campaign when taking the Guineas trial over Heliostatic. He ran ninth in the French Guineas, albeit being beaten by just four lengths. Needs massive improvement to beat George Washington.
3 c Inchinor – Needwood Epic, by Midyan
