KZN BOOKMAKERS " GET OUT STAKES "

12 October 2005

Punters have an additional aid when looking for winners in the last race of meetings in KwaZulu-Natal.

Gold Circle, in conjunction with the KZN Bookmakers, are again sponsoring the 'Get-Out Stakes' in which trainers and jockeys taking part in the last race at meetings in the province earn points for finishing in the first three placings.

With the competition two months old, trainer Duncan Howells and jockey Robbie Hill are the men to follow in the last race. Howells leads the trainers with 13 points while Hill leads the jockeys on 11,5 points. Second best amongst the jockeys are Garth Puller and Nick Shearer while Dennis Drier, winner of the competition last season, trails Duncan Howells by 3,5 points.

Competition in the coming weeks is sure to hot up between the jockeys and trainers as they bid for the R30 000 first prize, so punters who follow the leaders may have the edge in the Get-Out Stakes.
