The question many people have been wanting answered was done last night at Australia's Horse of the Year awards. Makybe Diva, who won her second consecutive title as Australia's champion racehorse, will be bred this season to leading young sire Encosta De Lago, the second most pricey stallion in Australia. The triple Melbourne Cup winner also picked up champion stayer award and champion middle distance performer.

Takeover Target was given champion sprinter and best international performer. Racing To Win was champion three-year-old male, whilst outstanding filly Serenade Rose, a leading fancy for this year's Melbourne Cup, was champion three-year-old filly. Golden Slipper heroine Miss Finland was given the nod for champion two-year-old, and Karasi champion jumper.

The season saw Redoute's Choice land his first general sires title. The dominant Danehill horse also topped the two-year-old sires list.
