This years Ready-To-Run Sale is to be held at the TBA Complex in Germiston, on Sunday 4 November at 14:00. The sale looks to attract more attention than previous November sales, as Summerhill Stud are offering a wide range of overseas bred 2-y-o’s. Many which would of appeared on the National Yearling Sales, but were withdrawn for certain reasons, ie. the Hussonet filly out of Charybdis (AUS). Charybdis as we know produced WHY BE (AUS), Horse of the year in Singapore in 2007, with 19 wins, 7 of those been listed races, inc. Singapore Fischer Stakes (twice), and 6 places, from just 26 starts.

Another Australian bred 2-y-o, which looks to attract some attention, is the colt by FANTASTIC LIGHT out of Rhianne Louise (AUS)Rhianne Louise which has bred 2 previous foals, 2 runners and 2 winners, inc. Pepperwood (AUS) (04 c. by Easy Rocking (AUS)): winner, A$109,250, 2nd Australia Post S, (L), 4 places, from just 7 starts.

A few more stallions with progeny that are likely to appear on the sale are SHOW A HEART (AUS), Champion Freshman sire in Australia, STREET CRY (IRE), Dubai World Cup winner, who is the sire of STREET SENSE, winner of the Kentucky Derby, Travers Stakes and the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, all Group 1 races. DANEHILL DANCER, who was Champion 2yo in Ireland and had bred the likes of SPECIOSA, CHOISIR, WHERE OR WHEN, and PRIVATE STEER, all group 1 performers.

Terry Lowe offers a 2-y-o colt who is by FAN CLUB’S MISTER out of Sailor’s Token. Sailor’s Token has had 9 previous foals 5 runners and 3 winners, inc. multiple group performer ROYAL MARINER. ROYAL MARINER earned R620,575, consisting of 5 wins, inc. Senor Santa Handicap, Gr.2, Graham Beck Stakes, Gr.3, 2nd Horse Chestnut Stakes, Gr.1, 3rd Triple Crown 1600, Gr.1, SA Classic, Gr.1. We hope that this colt on offer produces the same statistics if not better than that of ROYAL MARINER.

Yellow Star Stud are offering the only JALLAD on the sale, who is out of Spacious Skies. JALLAD as we know is the sire of multiple graded stakes winners, inc. ZEBRA CROSSING, LYRICAL LINDA, TALAHATCHIE, KAPIL, DIVINE JURY and many other class acts. Spacious Skies is a winner, and has had 1 previous foal, who is still to prove what he’s worth. Most important Spacious Skies is an Own sister to NDABENI, and a Half sister to WHISTLING DIXIE. NDABENI earned R671,310, with 5 wins, inc. Golden Horseshoe, Gr.1, 2nd The Nursery, Gr.2. WHISTLING DIXIE on the other hand was ARCSA Champion Older Female Sprinter in 1997, earning R429,597, with 9 wins, inc. Poinsettia Stakes, Gr.3, 2nd SA Fillies Sprint, Gr.1, Style Magazine Challenge, Gr.1, etc. WHISTLING DIXIE produced multiple Gr.1 winner GRAND EMPORIUM, who earned R701,630, inc. 6 wins in SA and 2 wins in UAE, inc. Triple Crown 1600, Gr.1, Daily News 2200, Gr.1, Godolphin Mile, Gr.2 and the Maktoum Challenge, Gr.3, etc. I hope that  Lorraine and Koos de Klerk at Yellow Star Stud are able to fetch quite a bit for this colt on offer.
