NEW RECORD FOR DANEHILL

The late Danehill became the first stallion in history to sire 300 stakes winners when his daughter Nevis won a Listed race at Randwick.
Danehill , currently leading the UK sires list,
is enjoying a magnificent season, especially with his two-year-olds.
His son George Washington (Phoenix Stakes) and daughter Punctilious (Yorkshire Oaks) gave the great stallion a notable gr1 race double whilst his classic placed daughter, Luas Line, gave him yet another stakes winner, winning a Listed race on Sunday.
Luas Line is out of a daughter of In The Wings, like another smart Danehill filly, Dolores. This is the much vaunted Danehill-Sadler's Wells "nick" although this nick has yet to produce an outstanding horse.

Currently George Washington is favourite for next year's 2000 Guineas, while his Futurity Stakes winning son, Horatio Nelson, is favouite for the Epsom Derby. Another son, Ivan Denisovich, ran second in Sunday's Prix Morny. The latter won the July Stakes earlier in the season.

Danehill's finest performer, Rock of Gibraltar, was recently represented by a yearling who topped Deauville's first session. Rock of Gibraltar, whose first foals are yearlings, stands at Coolmore.

Danehill's sons have also been enjoying a good season. Desert King was represented by Sunday's German group winner North Queen and recent group one winner Darasalam. Desert King has also been represented this year by Australian group one winners Desert War and Lachlan River while his champion daughter, Makybe Diva was named Horse of the Year in Australia.
