Fieldspring Racing has announced the retirement of their Champion
Classic Horse and SA Equus Horse of the Year 2003, Dynasty. He
is to be retired to stud.
Dynasty recorded 9 wins and 3 placings from just 12 career starts,
his crowning glory being his victory in the Vodacom Durban July
two years ago.
Dynasty suffered an injury when contesting the Queens Plate last
season. Whilst the injury to his off fore suspensory ligament
has responded to treatment, veterinary advice is that to race
him would be an undue risk given Dynasty’s stud potential.
The Equus champion was bred by Mary Slack's Wilgerbosdrif Stud
and is the son of Fort Wood. His dam produced 6 winners from her
7 runners to-date including Dynasty’s own brother Sequoia who
won the Gold Vase.
John Newsome of Fieldspring Racing would like to record his gratitude
to all those who supported Dynasty during his racing career and
subsequently whilst convalescing, especially the Kannemeyer yard,
Dr John McVeigh and his colleagues, Sabine Plattner and Brett
Crawford who invited Dynasty to recuperate at their West Coast
facilities.
Newsome also expressed his thanks to the Western Province Chapter
of Gold Circle and the racing public who recognised and supported
the Champion.
