Running Wild is the theme for the annual Rising Sun Gold Circle
Racing Carnival at Clairwood Racecourse on April 7 where music,
dance, fashion and a variety of family entertainment will create
a festive atmosphere for the running of the R100 000 Rising
Sun Easter Handicap,
The Listed race heads the 10-race programme on the day with
another Listed race, the R100 000 Phoenix Sun KwaZulu-Natal
Stakes, adding impetus to a day of top-class racing.
The racemeeting, one of the longest running dates on the KwaZulu-Natal
racing calendar, will incorporate a fund-raising drive for charity
and all funds raised on the day from the variety of flea market
and catering stalls will go to the Chatsworth Hospice.
Running Wild is the theme for the popular fashion competitions
for the public with prizes for the winners. Judges will be out
among the crowd from 11.30 am picking out the finalists in the
Most Striking Couple of the day competition.
As an added attraction, the Chats Car Club will present a display
of exotic vehicles, many dating back to the early 60’s and includes
customised and high-powered performance cars and hotrods.
The entertainment for the day will be a mix of Eastern and
Western and the racemeeting will close with a popular bhangra
bash which gets underway immediately after the running of the
last race.
