Shamardal has been retired due to suffering a career ending injury. The colt was due to run in tomorrow's Eclipse Stakes against Motivator.
He chipped a joint in a bone and will not race again.

Shamardal was beaten just once in his career when he was unplaced in the UAE Derby. He then reeled off a hat trick of Gp1 wins. His last coming in the St James Palace Stakes.
He was most impressive when winning last year's Dewhurst Stakes in a canter and is sure to be a much sought after stallion.

A champion at two, Shamardal is a son of red hot sire, Giant's Causeway. His dam is a full sister to Dubai World Cup winner, Street Cry. A fee has not yet been announced.
