A son of Diesis and Kitza set a new record at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sales yesterday. The colt was bought for a million guineas and was purchased by Demi O'Byrne. He became the first million guineas lot sold at the October Sale. O'Byrne was quoted as saying the colt was "remarkable.. mature and ready to run."

The colt, who is out of a dual classic placed daughter of Danehill, was the highlight of the first two days, which also saw a son of Kingmambo sell for 525,000 guineas. The colt was purchased by Shadwell.

The highlight of the third day came in the form of a Giant's Causeway colt, which was purchased by Demi O'Byrne for 320,000 guineas. He hails from the family of Golan and Islington.

The talking sire of the sale has been Royal Applause. The demand for his stock has been considerable. His two year olds have been firing this season and include group winners Nevisian Lad and Majestic Missile, the highly promising Auditorium as well as Peak To Creek, winner of Redcar's big two year old sales race.
A colt by the hot young sire sold for 160,000 on the third day, while another eight colts by the Sandringham based sire went for over 100,000 guineas.

The sale, which is divided into two parts, finishes on Friday. Part two of the sale begins on the 15th of October and finishes on the 17th.
