Hong Kong’s big International meeting takes place this Sunday. South African interest will be centered around Tiza’s appearance in the Sprint. Tiza’s trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre recently arrived in Hong Kong to watch Tiza work. It will be a tough test for Tiza, but the gelding has done well since arriving in France. He has won two group races in France and was not beaten far when in the Gp1 Prix de l’ Abbaye. Tiza will face stern opposition with the likes of Miss Andretti (Aus Horse of the Year), Abbaye winners Benbaun and Desert Lord and former Sprint winner Absolute Champion all probable runners. There are in total four International races on the day – the Sprint, Vase, Mile and Cup. The Cup could see a rematch between Hong Kong’s two best performers Vengeance of Rain and Viva Pataca, whilst the Mile sees outstanding European Milers Excellent Art and Darjina square off. The mighty Dylan Thomas will bid to end his racing career on a high, when he takes on a strong field in the Vase. |
