Following financial difficulties the controversial TWBS The Written Bloodstock Syndicate) are putting 160 horses up for sale. The syndicate, who are based in Australia, have run by a list of late payment at sales in North America and South Africa. Among the horses coming up for sale include former top-class South African raced fillies Battle Maiden, Paraca (Arg) and Perfect Promise. They will be added to the Inglis Christmas sale to be held on November 25.
One of the directors, Mark Peters, has been warned off racetracks throughout the world. Peters is said to have defaulted on bets up to AUS$33,000. Another application has be made against Peters by Con Kafataris for over AUS$1 million. The syndicate also owe trainers Grahame Begg and Robert Smerdon a substantial amount in unpaid training fees.
The syndicate's stallion, Good Journey, may be auctioned at the Easter Sales in Sydney.
